Little Puppy

My story "
Little Puppy" in January issue of The Children's Magazine...
A weak little puppy started following Mintu, as he left the bakery. Young puppy was shivering in cold.
Mintu’s friend Deepu advised him, “Puppy seems to be hungry. Why don’t you give him a few pieces of bread?”
“No I have bought this bread for myself and I will finish this bread loaf alone” Mintu replied.
“Look at that poor dog. He is so weak and he has been followed us for such a long distance” Deepu requested Mintu.
“Why are you feeling so pity for a street dog?” Mintu replied.
“But they also need our help. They also have emotions but they cannot express” Deepu answered.
Mintu felt very angry and threw a big stone at little puppy.
Puppy started howling in pain.
His leg was injured badly.
Mintu slipped on a banana peel lying on the road and fell down.
The packet of bread got torn and the pieces of bread fell all around.
Mintu hurt his hands and knees, and his wrists started bleeding.
The young puppy came limping towards Mintu.
He thought that the puppy will eat the bread pieces. But the little puppy did not look at the bread pieces but started licking Mintu’s bleeding hand.
Mintu recalled that he had given a biscuit to this puppy a few days back.
Mintu started crying badly.
He was feeling ashamed and said to the puppy, “You have not forgotten me just because I had given you a biscuit”
Deepu said, “Now we must see a doctor soon”
Mintu was weeping, “You were very correct my friend. These animals cannot speak but they have more kindness than human beings”
Deepu helped Mintu stand on his feet. Mintu smiled at puppy and lifted him, “He also needs a doctor. He will stay with me till he gets well.”
The puppy started wagging his tail as if he had understood everything.
